Work: Sound installation
Location: EXPOSURE HKU Media, Utrecht
Date: 07/2025
Details:

Singer Harmony is part of an ongoing research into the acoustic properties of electric sewing machines. Both the resonance of the casings and the mechanical movements of the needle are amplified, creating a composition that transforms over time. The motors of the sewing machines are individually controlled, resulting in a poetic interplay of varying rhythms. These rythms gradually shape into tones, forming an evolving soundscape.

		<description>

Work: Interactive sound installation
Location: HKU Oudenoord, UTRECHT
Date: 06/2023

Details:

Resonating Mechanisms is a sound sculpture built from pvc pipes, air pumps, servo motors, exciter speakers and contact mics. The work explores the power of analog feedback loops. Starting from the base of the sculpture air gets pushed through the pipes system. Exciter speakers amplify the sound being picked up by hanging microphones within the same sculpture. Whilst the hanging microphones are being controlled with servo motors, a chaotic, uncontrollable creature is being created. The sculpture creates a sense of causal relation between the visitor and the modulation of the sound.

The work explores the power of this collaboration and to what extent you can choreograph the audience with it.In collaboration with: Jonas van Son, Esther van Leeuwen, Dewi MacDonald, Tijn Olling, Job Ketelaar, Lara Adriolo and Roshan Roeters.

Work: Experimental film

Date: 10/2022

Details:&#38;nbsp;A man searches for himself and hides from himself at the same time.

Meet-up is a visualization of a dissociative experience. When your body and soul feel out of sync. You’re present but far away at the same time. In this film a man’s body is searching for his soul and his soul is searching for his body. While searching they are also subconsciously hiding from each other. In the end he lets himself be found by presenting himself. They finally integrate and it’s an ecstatic experience.

They go their separate ways again. The man is briefly at peace, but the search will no doubt start again.
In collaboration with Oisìn Duggan Metcalf.

	In a world that wants to be clear and efficient, I choose slowness, confusion, and the poetry of the useless.

I work from a curiosity about how the world appears to us. Through the senses, but also through the techniques we use to grasp our perception. I draw my inspiration from processes in matter: from natural phenomena and the unfolding of media.&#38;nbsp;

Using media, recording equipment, and everyday objects outside their fixed function, I investigate how our perception can shift, revealing connections that might otherwise go unnoticed. Rhythm, noise, and structure play an important role, inviting the viewer to engage in a different way of listening.

My work consists mainly of installations in which sound, time, and light subtly shape and extend our perception.In this way, I try to create space for a world that does not need to be explained, but experienced.
